The Comet 910 is an Italian-made sailboat, built in 1977 by the renowned shipyard Comar Yachts. Hull and Construction
The hull of the Comet 910 is made of fiberglass-reinforced polyester (GRP) with a round bilge shape, which contributes to the sailing characteristics and comfort on open water. The hull is white with red striping, giving the ship a recognizable and classic appearance. The superstructure shows signs of aging and would benefit from a new coat of paint.
Interior and Layout
Inside, the Comet 910 offers a practical and classic layout with a wooden interior. The headroom is 1.80 meters, providing sufficient freedom of movement for most occupants. In the forepeak, there is a V-berth, while the salon features a U-shaped seating area that can be converted into additional sleeping places. At the back, there is a separate sleeping area, bringing the total to four fixed berths and two extras.
The galley is equipped with a stove, sink, and ample cupboard space. The wet cell has a manual toilet and a washbasin. The toilet discharge is directly connected to the outside water. For comfort on cooler days, there is a heater on board.
Sail Plan and Rigging
The Comet 910 is masthead sloop-rigged and features an aluminum mast. The sail plan consists of a mainsail, genoa, storm jib, and spinnaker. The genoa is equipped with a furling system and dates from 2019. The halyards and sheets are mostly led to the cockpit, making the ship suitable for solo or shorthanded sailing.
On board, there are two batteries with a total capacity of 225 Ah. The electrical installation includes a battery charger, inverter, shore power connection, and voltmeter. Navigation equipment includes a chart plotter, depth meter, wind meter, speedometer, compass, and autopilot. The navigation lights are present and functional.
Equipment and Safety
The deck equipment consists of a cockpit table, swim ladder, fenders, lines, and a guardrail. An anchor with chain and line is present, although a windlass is missing. The cockpit is self-draining, and an electric bilge pump is installed. A dinghy or trailer is not included.
Documentation and Maintenance
Various documents are provided with the ship, including invoices for modifications and maintenance, design drawings, and manuals. The boat was out of the water for maintenance in 2024 and was also given a new layer of antifouling. No signs of osmosis were detected.Â
