Vri-Jon Contessa 37E â Steel Motor Yacht with Comfortable Equipment and Practical Layout
The Vri-Jon Contessa 37E is a Dutch-built steel motor yacht, constructed in 1999 by the renowned shipyard Vri-Jon Yachts in Ossenzijl. This particular model, with build number V-958, features a multi-chine hull design and is designed for comfortable cruising on inland waters such as lakes, rivers, canals, and ponds. It holds a CE certification category C. With a length of 11.20 meters and a width of 3.8 meters, the yacht offers a spacious and comfortable living environment, suitable for both short day trips and longer vacations.
Dimensions and Construction
The hull is made of steel, contributing to the ship's robustness and stability. The draft is 1.2 meters, allowing it to navigate shallower waters. The interior headroom is 2 meters, providing comfortable freedom of movement inside. The ship weighs approximately 6,000 kg.
Interior and Accommodation
The Vri-Jon Contessa 37E features a practical layout with two fixed berths and two additional berths, making the ship suitable for up to four people. The interior space includes a dining area, mattresses, a shower, and an electric toilet. The toilet discharge is directly connected to open water. The kitchen is equipped with a stove, refrigerator, freezer, microwave, and hot water supply.
Engine and Technology
The propulsion consists of a Yanmar 4LH-HTE inboard diesel engine with a power output of 140 hp. This four-cylinder engine is electrically started and has a recorded number of operating hours of approximately 1,400. The engine is from the year 1998 and is fueled from a diesel tank with a capacity of 700 liters. Additional measuring instruments such as an oil pressure gauge, tachometer, and fuel tank gauge are present.
For extra maneuverability, the ship is equipped with both an electric bow thruster and an electric stern thruster, both operable with a remote control. This makes docking and undocking easier, even in tight harbors or unfavorable wind conditions.
Electrical Installation and Power Supply
The onboard electrical installation consists of four batteries, a battery charger, alternator, solar panel, inverter, voltmeter, and shore power connection. The onboard network operates on 12V and 220V, allowing the use of household appliances both while sailing and in the harbor.
Navigation and Equipment
In terms of navigation, the ship is equipped with a depth sounder. For anchoring, there is a manually operated anchor winch with chain. The exterior equipment includes a teak deck, bimini, cockpit tent, tarpaulins, swim ladder, swim platform, pulpit and stern seats, and a guardrail. A dinghy or trailer is not included.
Maintenance and History
The current owners are the second users of the ship. According to reports, the ship has always been in winter storage and has been regularly maintained. The last antifouling treatment and haul-out for maintenance was done in 2025. The boat was recently repainted by a shipyard in Akkrum, where a ceramic coating was also applied, providing extra protection for 6 years. Modifications such as an extra door on the aft deck and custom-made aluminum ladders have been added. The interior space has new carpeting, and the woodwork has been treated with wood oil. The appearance of this ship is as shown in the photos.
Usage and Sailing Area
The ship has been primarily used for recreational purposes such as vacations and day trips. The sailing areas include various inland waters, including lakes, rivers, ponds, and canals. The combination of the electric bow and stern thruster also makes the ship suitable for less experienced skippers.
