The Super Van Craft 1260, built in 1977 by Klaassen Shipyard, is a classic Dutch motor yacht with a rich history. With a length of 13.20 meters and a width of 3.85 meters, this vessel offers a spacious and comfortable stay on board. The hull is made of steel and features a V-bottom, contributing to stability and sailing characteristics on inland waters. Layout and Living Space on Board
Inside, the Super Van Craft 1260 offers a headroom of 2 meters, providing pleasant freedom of movement. The layout consists of two cabins and a dining area, with a total of five fixed berths and one extra berth. The accommodation is equipped with an electric toilet, a separate shower, and a hot water system powered by a gas boiler. The presence of a towel dryer and diesel central heating adds to the comfort, even during cooler sailing seasons.
The galley is equipped with a stove, a Dometic compressor refrigerator (installed in March 2023), and a dishwasher (May 2023). The high-pressure water pump (April 2023) ensures a powerful shower experience. The interior of the ship was completely painted in March 2023, contributing to a fresh appearance of the interior.
Engine and Technical Equipment
Propulsion is provided by two DAF 575 diesel engines, each with 105 hp, both built in 1976 and with approximately 4000 operating hours. The engines are electrically started and are connected to a cardan drive (D-drive). The fuel tank has a capacity of 1000 liters, making the ship suitable for longer trips without frequent refueling stops. The cruising speed is around 12 km/h, with a maximum speed of approximately 18 km/h.
The electrical installation on board is extensive and operates on a 24V system. There are six batteries with a total capacity of 920 Ah, four of 100 Ah and two of 260 Ah, renewed in August 2025. The power supply is supported by four solar panels of 150 watts each, a battery charger, alternator, inverter, shore power connection, and a voltmeter.
Navigation and Steering
The steering of the Super Van Craft 1260 is dual, with steering wheels both inside and outside. Navigation instruments on board include a depth gauge, compass, tachometer, oil pressure gauge, temperature gauge, and fuel tank gauge. For extra maneuverability, the ship is equipped with an electric bow thruster.
Exterior and Deck Equipment
The exterior of the ship features a teak deck, which requires attention in some areas due to leakage into the bilge and the transom. The railing needs to be sanded and varnished. The exterior equipment further includes a bimini, sprayhood, cockpit tent (March 2023), outdoor shower, swim platform, swim ladder, fenders and lines, and a manually operated anchor winch with chain.Â
Maintenance and Condition of the Ship
The last antifouling treatment and anode application were carried out in March 2025. In the same year, the ship was last taken out of the water for maintenance. The hull was repainted in March 2024.Â
Known points of attention are the leaking teak deck, the railing that needs maintenance, and a defective float in the fuel tank. The leaking teak deck should be resolved by replacing the seams or completely replacing the deck to prevent further leaks (also into the bilge). Moisture has been present under the teak deck, which may have caused rust. The leakage currently causes optical irregularities, and as seen on the transom, there is clear wood damage. Rust is visible in the gangways. Fundamentally, it is a good ship with many recent modifications but a project to repair/replace the teak deck.Â
Usage and Sailing Area
The Super Van Craft 1260 has mainly been used for pleasure cruising on inland waters. With a displacement of 18,000 kg and a freshwater tank of 1000 liters, the ship is suitable for longer stays on board. The electric bilge pump and shower drain pump (both renewed in 2024) contribute to safety and comfort while sailing.
