XBOAT ref :6206. Still very popular on the fast cruising catamaran market, this 2011 CATANA 50 was managed through charters from 2012 to 2016 by Dream Yacht Charter in Martinique.
A complete refit was carried out during the first six months of 2017 to repair the shortcomings of the charter and to complete its equipment in order to make it a safe and comfortable boat for a long-distance cruising program. This program was limited to exploring the Antilles, the Atlantic USA, and Atlantic Canada as it was interrupted by COVID-19. Repatriation by cargo during the pandemic allowed it to be brought back to the Mediterranean.
A set of 2017 sails including mainsail, solent, and gennaker allows for rather dynamic sailing with perfect visibility thanks to the 2 steering stations on the console at the stern. The 2 centerboards offer a very appreciable windward performance.
LOUARN is a 4-cabin version, with two aft cabins with separate beds that can be converted, and two forward cabins, each with a bathroom. The saloon is bright, treated in light wood, with a U-shaped kitchen open to the cockpit, which is very appreciated and very well equipped. It faces the real chart table, oriented towards the front, and an L-shaped saloon with its foldable and telescopic table.
In terms of equipment, it meets the needs of long-distance cruising with a generator, desalinator, solar panels, fridge and freezer, ice maker, and complete electronics with iridium, etc. The 2 Volvo engines of 75 hp allow for a reasonable consumption of 4.5L/H each at 7 knots.
In short, a unit that has lived but still retains all its potential for a new navigation program and at a very reasonable budget!
