1919 55m² YACHT REBUILT MODERN INTERIOR
The classic 1919 Skerry Cruiser Alert represents an exceptional synthesis of heritage and performance. As one of the first 55 m² Skerry Cruisers built in Denmark, she holds particular historical significance. Completely rebuilt between 2009 and 2025, the yacht combines original lines with carefully integrated modern enhancements. The mahogany-planked hull is supported by a renewed structure with stainless steel floor timbers. A modernized rig, developed with experienced Scandinavian 55 m² sailors, delivers outstanding performance, especially in light wind conditions. Below deck, a refined custom interior is tailored to owner and guests. Fully documented, Alert is a rare classic yacht of over 100 years.
The yacht underwent a comprehensive and documented restoration process between 2009 and 2025, during which it was structurally rebuilt. The aim was explicitly not to create a museum-piece reconstruction, but rather a purist, consistently sailing-oriented classic yacht, reduced to the essentials.
Hull & structure
The hull is classically planked with mahogany. The oak keel beam was completely renewed. Frames, sternpost, knees and essential areas of the underwater hull were professionally repaired or replaced.
The floor timbers were made of V4A and represent a durable, technically precise solution. The iron keel was repaired separately. The structural condition of the yacht is high quality and designed for the long term.
Rig & sails
ALERT is designed as a purely sailing-oriented yacht. The rig is deliberately light and follows the classic skerry cruiser concept.
Mainsail: 46.5 m²
Jib: 18.6 m²
Total sail area: 65.1 m²
The sail area ratio (SA/D) when ready to sail is 25.9, which is in the upper performance range of historic 55 m² skerry cruisers.
Interior & usage concept
The interior has been deliberately kept purist. Visible frames and planks characterise the design.
Owner's berth in the forward saloon
Guest cabin in the fore ship
There is no heating, no galley, no on-board technology and no shore connection. A small battery supplies only the interior lighting and simple consumers.
History
The yacht has a well-documented history spanning over 100 years. It was known for a time as CLEO and now bears its original name ALERT again. The restoration and ownership history is fully documented.
Price: on enquiry
Location: Baltic Sea / Germany
Status: available
