This 1965 Volker S-spant is a classic steel sailing yacht with a rich history and a distinctive appearance. Designed by A. Volker and built at the SVGT yard in The Hague, this vessel combines traditional craftsmanship with practical sailing characteristics. With a length of 7.80 metres and a beam of 2.25 metres, the boat is compact enough for narrow waterways, while still offering sufficient space and stability for multi-day trips on inland waters, lakes and even coastal waters.

Volker S-spant now in the online auction. Everyone can bid up to and including 20 April 2026.

      Classic design and stable handling

The hull of this vessel features the classic S-spant shape, providing a stable position in the water and a comfortable sailing experience, even in rougher conditions. The deep keel and generous overhangs contribute to good balance and strong course-keeping. The tiller steering in the cockpit offers direct control of the rudder, making the boat manoeuvrable and responsive. Thanks to the traditional hull form, the yacht can be sailed with minimal effort, making it attractive to both novice and experienced sailors.

The sail inventory consists of five sails, including a mainsail (renewed in 2016), genoa, working jib, trisail and storm jib. This variety allows sailing in a wide range of weather conditions. The wooden mast enhances the classic look of the boat and was replaced in the 1990s with a slightly longer one, improving sailing performance.

      Comfortable and functional cabin

The cabin is compact yet functional and offers sleeping space for two fixed and two additional persons. Inside you will find a seating area with benches, a small table, a navigation corner and a simple cooker with sink and tap. The headroom of 1.75 metres makes staying on board comfortable for most occupants. There is ample storage in cupboards and compartments, and the lighting creates a pleasant atmosphere in the evening.

Although the boat is not equipped with a toilet or heating, it is very suitable for day trips, weekend outings and short holidays. The self-draining cockpit and the presence of a lifebuoy and electric bilge pump contribute to safety on board.

      Engine and technical equipment

The Volker S-spant is fitted with an original Albin O21 inboard petrol engine with an output of 10 hp. This two-cylinder engine is electrically started and was overhauled in 2014. With a cruising speed of approximately 10 km/h and a top speed of 11 km/h, the vessel is also very usable under power. The fuel tank has a capacity of 25 litres, sufficient for longer trips without refuelling.

Electrically, the boat is equipped with two batteries with a total capacity of 120 Ah, a battery charger, shore power connection and a voltmeter. Navigation equipment such as a compass, VHF radio and depth sounder are present, as well as a tricolour navigation light.

      Stylish appearance and practical equipment

The exterior is fitted with a cockpit table, pulpit and pushpit seats, fenders, lines and guardrails. The anchor is secured with chain and line, providing reliable anchoring. The varnish in the cockpit requires some attention, offering the new owner an opportunity to freshen up the boat to their own taste.

With a weight of approximately 3,000 kg, the vessel is robustly built and provides a solid base for adventurous trips. The air draft of 10.50 metres makes it possible to pass under most bridges, increasing access to a wide range of cruising areas.

      History and cruising possibilities

This vessel is registered as floating heritage and has a rich history. The current owner is the fourth in line and has used the boat for various purposes, from day trips to holidays on the Wadden Sea. The boat is suitable for use on inland waters, lakes, ponds, rivers and coastal waters, offering a unique combination of classic charm and practical sailing qualities.

The Volker S-spant is an excellent choice for enthusiasts of classic sailing yachts looking for a characterful vessel with an authentic appearance and pleasant handling. Thanks to its compact size and well-considered layout, this boat is suitable for both solo sailors and small groups who want to enjoy time on the water.
