Moonstone of Marlow is a 12 Ton Hillyard designed and build by Hillyard in Littlehampton, 1968. A very popular centre cockpit layout, giving excellent accommodation both forward, and in the spacious rear cabin. She is one of the last timber boats built by Hillyard.
Moonstone of Marlow has been lovingly owned by her current owner since 2009. Before his ownership she was treated to a substantial re-fit, and since then she has been maintained religiously.
She is solidly built of Mahogany carvel planking on oak frames to Lloyds standards. She is copper fastened, and has an iron ballast keel, stainless steel bolted with an internal ballast of approximately 2 tons. This is part lead, part pig iron.
She comes with good history, having only had 4 owners from new. Her first owner being for just 1 year, second for 33 years, third for 9 years and current owner since 2009. Over her lifetime she has been extensively sailed aorund the UK, France, Channel Islands, East Coast UK, and laterly the West Coast of the UK.

Accommodation :
6 berths, four in seperate cabins and two in the saloon.
2 heads, one in forward cabin and one ensuite to rear cabin.
Centre cockpit will helm position, and access to forward and rear accomodation.
Forward:
Main saloon, with seating and storage. Coverts to 2 berths.
Galley, with sink, oven, hot wat heater and storage.
Chart table with electrical systems and storage.
Forward cabin, with 2 berths, head and storage.
Aft:
Rear cabin, with double berth, storage and access to sterngear.

Mechanical :
Engine: Thorneycroft Marinised Land Rover 2.25 56hp Diesel engine. Fully overhauled in 2004 by lancing marine. New oil cooler fitted in 2009, and a custom built fuel tank of 60 gallons, fitted in 2004. Fully serviced by the current owner.
Sails and Rigging: Bermudan sloop rig. Mast removed and refurbished in 2007, along with a new tabernackle in mahogany with new mast bolts. All galvanised standing rigging was replaced in 2007.
Galvanised chain plates were replaced in 2004, along with the stemhead/bowroller.
Rotostay furling gear was new in 2007.
Main sail new 2007.
Oversize genoa, Jeckells, New 2007.
Bartons lazy jacks fitted along with main sail stack pack in 2007.
Spare jib/staysail overhalled 2006.
Re-fit 2002-2009: Port and Starboard topsides virtually re planked in 1" Iroko. A number of ribs and beams replaced in oak. Stern and quarter coamings replaced. New decks fitted, and encapsulated in fibreglass. Teak with mahogany covering boards laid overall. New rubbing streak in 3" oval Iroko. Toe rails replaced with riased mahogany rails. All keel bolts withdrawn and tested, 2 replaced. Fore deadwood and sternpost bolts drawn and replaced with galvanised.
Ballast keel grit blasted and epoxy coated. New steel shoe to aft deadwood. Antifoul coatings removed back to bare hull, and recaulked where required.
New guard rails and stantions were fabricated and galvanised. All windows removed and re built.
Engine removed and fully overhauled by Lancing Marine.
Refitted with new beds, feet and flexible coupling. All stern gear replaced.
New vetus box, goose neck, and exhaust piping.
All through hull fittings replaced, with valves. Fully painted.
Spray hood fabricated, with full cockpit cover. New hatch and battery box covers.
She has had a small fortune spent on her. All work undertaken by ex Hillyard shipwright.
2009-Current: New alternator, ignition switch, glow plugs in 2012. Garboards raked out and re caulked 2010. Smev gas cooker fitted in 2012. Propex hot air heating fitted in 2014. Stainless steel standing rigging replaced in 2015. 240V Battery charger fitted in 2016.
Deck partial relay in 2016. Caulking raked out and replaced in 2016.
New spray hood, rear enclosure, stackpack and gas locker cover in 2018.
Stainless steel fuel tank fitted in 2019. New water pump in 2022. New VHF in 2025. Gas pipes replaced in 2026. 2 x Skin fittings replaced in 2026.
She has been regulary lifted for maintenance, painting and antifouling.
