This Wauquiez 40, designed by Berret-Racoupeau and built in 2002 by the renowned Wauquiez shipyard, represents a perfect blend of offshore performance, robust construction, and luxurious comfort. Design Category A rated, she is built for serious passage-making with comfort and safety in mind.
Meticulously maintained and comprehensively upgraded, this example benefits from major recent refits and enhancements, making her one of the most appealing offerings in her class. The teak-laid decks, cockpit, and bathing platform were fully refurbished in 2024; the interior teak joinery remains in superb condition, providing a warm and classic ambience throughout.
Mechanically, she is well-maintained with a powerful Volvo Penta D2-55 engine, new engine mounts, a new feathering propeller, and a shaft seal, all of which were installed in 2025. Reliable cruising is further supported by an upgraded electrical system, which includes solar charging, shore power, and a recently replaced service battery bank.
Her rig and sail plan include an in-mast furling mainsail, Ulman genoa which was new in 2023, and a cruising chute. The standing rigging was replaced in 2018, and the majority of the running rigging was replaced in 2022. All deck hardware is high-spec, primarily Harken, and features electric winches for ease of handling.
Below deck, she boasts a two-cabin, two-head layout with generous accommodations for six. The owner’s aft cabin features a queen island berth and a private ensuite with a separate shower. The forward V-berth cabin also includes an ensuite, offering excellent privacy for guests. The saloon features raised seating and a convertible double berth, all surrounded by beautiful teak joinery and ample natural light.
Modern electronics include a full Raymarine Axiom suite (new 2022), with radar, AIS, chartplotter, autopilot, and wind instrumentation, ensuring confidence and safety at sea. A full suite of safety gear, a stainless steel davit system, and extensive cruising inventory complete the package.
In turn-key condition, thoughtfully equipped for extended cruising or liveaboard life, this Wauquiez 40 stands out as a premium offering for discerning sailors.
