“Why Knot” is a well-presented and carefully maintained example of the ever-popular Nimbus 310 Coupe, a Scandinavian cruiser widely respected for its solid build quality, safe seakeeping, and highly practical layout. Built in 2000, this particular boat has benefited from ongoing upgrades, making her an excellent choice for comfortable coastal cruising.
Externally, she features a smart blue vinyl hull wrap applied in 2020, complementing her GRP deck and superstructure. Powered by a reliable single Yanmar 230HP diesel engine on shaft drive, she offers good economy and performance. The engine has been regularly serviced, most recently in September 2025, and has logged approximately 1,327 hours.
The Nimbus 310 is known for making excellent use of space, and “Why Knot” is no exception. She offers generous accommodation with six berths across two cabins and the saloon, all with full standing headroom. The forward cabin benefits from a Tempur styled mattress for enhanced comfort, while a separate heads compartment includes a sea toilet, shower, and washbasin. Warm air heating via the Ardic system and a hot water supply ensure comfort on board throughout the seasons.
Her specification is well-suited to extended cruising, including a bow thruster for easy manoeuvring, electric anchor windlass, solar panel, and a bank of four batteries (replaced in January 2021). Navigation and onboard systems feature Autohelm bi-data instrumentation, a Raymarine chart plotter, Quantam radar, VHF radio and autopilot, alongside LED lighting, viltron battery management system, navigation lights, stereo system, and multiple bilge pumps. Safety equipment includes a liferaft (out of date) and fire blanket.
On deck, the sociable cockpit benefits from a full cover, providing a versatile space for relaxing or entertaining, whether underway or in the marina. The boat was antifouled and fitted with new anodes in November 2025.
Having previously been sold by us to her current owners in 2022, “Why Knot” relocated from Chichester to Southampton, where she has since enjoyed cruising the Solent. She presents as a genuine, well-kept example of this sought-after model.
